Terpsi - Teatro de Dança is a contemporary dance company offering courses, seminars, and activities in dance, music, and theatre. Given the Terpsi Group’s substantial cultural influence and esteemed reputation, a dedicated space is essential to support all its functions. This project envisions a specialized venue for Terpsi, functioning both as a school and a cultural landmark in Porto Alegre. It honors Carlota Albuquerque, the visionary director and choreographer, and acknowledges João Luiz Rolla, a pivotal figure in Rio Grande do Sul’s dance history, whose contributions elevated Porto Alegre to international prominence in contemporary dance.
To accommodate the current needs and future growth of the Terpsi Group, the design features robust infrastructure to support its diverse activities, including spaces for performances, teaching, and community engagement. The center is set to become a cornerstone of Porto Alegre’s cultural landscape, offering dynamic programming that will engage both the local community and visitors alike.
